Important Reminders for Swimmers from Coach Tiffany!
Swimmers are their age based on June 1, 2024. All events (meets, triathlon, lock in) attendance is based on June 1 age.
Please bring water bottles to practice and put them on the side of the pool.
Boys – haircut or swim caps, please! Many boys have hair that blocks their vision when it is wet. Swimmers must either have short hair (does not reach eyebrows) or put a cap on! This is a safety issue to prevent hair from getting in eyes or tangled in lane ropes.
Meet info
Arrival time is 5pm, warm-ups at 5.30pm, and meet starts at 6pm sharp.
Hawthorne is located at 12309 Whartons Way, Raleigh, NC 27613
There is a decent sized parking lot, but if spots run out you may park on N Hawthorne Way along the pool and parking lot. Please DO NOT park in the yard of the neighbors around the pool. There should be plenty of space in the lot and on either street adjacent to the pool.
Concessions will be available: burgers, hot dogs, pizza and other goodies. You can bring your own snacks/water as well. Be sure to bring camping chairs as seating options are very limited.
Declaring participation for meets
All swimmers must declare participation by the deadline given in the weekly email. *Undeclared swimmers will not be able to participate in the meet!* This is because teams are required to organize relay groups and submit swimmer names for all events PRIOR to the meet.
To declare your swimmer’s participation (whether YES or NO):
Go to meet signup calendar, click on the green “Meet Entry” box in the Time Trials section. Click the blue “Edit” button below swimmer name(s). Use the drop down to select “Attending” or “Not Attending” for each swimmer, then click the blue “save” button.
Volunteer sign up
Volunteers are still needed for ALL meets. Families are required to sign up for 2 points (4 half-shifts) per swim season. Meets are run solely by volunteers and it takes all of us to make the meets run smoothly and efficiently.
To view the meet schedule and sign up for volunteer shifts, go to meet signup calendar, click the green “Job Signup” button. Then click the blue “Sign up for Jobs” button, select shifts, then click the blue “save” button.
Donate concessions for all home swim meets
Selling concessions at our home meets is one of the primary ways we raise money to support the swim team. Our concessions committee has made it easy to donate items for ALL the home meets (6/11, 7/9, 7/16), please sign up here. Items must be dropped off at the pool no later than 4.45pm on the meet day.
