Important Reminders from Coach Tiffany!
1. Water bottles required for all practices.
2. Please remind athletes that when a coach blows a whistle it is to get the athletes’ attention. Many athletes are talking through the whistle and over coaches.
3. Goals this week are breathing and underwater (ask your swimmer about these).
4. Swimmers should meet behind starting blocks at 8:45am for morning practice and 5:30pm for afternoon practice.
Wendell Meet Info
Arrival time is 5pm, warm-ups at 5.30pm, and meet starts at 6pm sharp.
Wendell Swim Club is located at 700 South Selma Road, Wendell, NC 27591. Feel free to park on the left or right side of the pool, but be mindful of the pathways in and out of the parking lot so that cars are not blocked in.
Concessions will be available (pizza and other goodies). All concessions are *CASH ONLY*. You can bring your own snacks/water as well. Be sure to bring camping chairs as seating options are very limited.
Declaring participation for meets
All swimmers must declare participation by the deadline given in the weekly email. *Undeclared swimmers will not be able to participate in the meet!* This is because teams are required to organize relay groups and submit swimmer names for all events PRIOR to the meet.
To declare your swimmer’s participation (whether YES or NO): Go to meet signup calendar, click on the green “Meet Entry” box in the Time Trials section. Click the blue “Edit” button below swimmer name(s). Use the drop down to select “Attending” or “Not Attending” for each swimmer, then click the blue “save” button.
Volunteer sign up
Volunteers are still needed for ALL meets. Families are required to sign up for 2 points (4 half-shifts) per swim season. Meets are run solely by volunteers and it takes all of us to make the meets run smoothly and efficiently.
To view the meet schedule and sign up for volunteer shifts, go to meet signup calendar, click the green “Job Signup” button. Then click the blue “Sign up for Jobs” button, select shifts, then click the blue “save” button.
Donate concessions for all home swim meets
Selling concessions at our home meets is one of the primary ways we raise money to support the swim team. Our concessions committee has made it easy to donate items for ALL the home meets (6/11, 7/9, 7/16), please sign up here. Items must be dropped off at the pool no later than 4.45pm on the meet day.
TSA Championship Meet
Message from Coach Tiffany:
Please consider allowing your swimmer to compete in this meet on 7/21. This is unlike a typical Championship meet where swimmers must meet time standards and meet qualifications to compete. TSA provides this Championship style meet opportunity for swimmers to experience a big meet setting without having to meet qualification standards. Please encourage your swimmer to be excited about this opportunity. Relays are only possible if 4 swimmers in an age group attend.
As a young Southall swimmer, I attended the TSA Championship meet and it sparked a deeper interest in swimming. I enjoyed the opportunity to compete with fellow Southall teammates in a Championship setting. I enjoyed my experience and attended TSA Championships until I graduated from Southall and now look forward to this opportunity for my swimmers in a coaching position.
Stay in the know!
Southall uses the GroupMe app to communicate last minute information. Please click here to sign up.
